the obligatory shop tour

presses

there are currently three presses in the shop. the primary one is the venerable 10x15" Chandler & Price platen press we often rhapsodize about. the second is a #2 Vandercook proof press and the third is a Caslon iron hand press.

on the more modern side we recently acquired an old A.B. Dick offset duplicator that we are going to eventually get working. but not right now. not now.

cutter

if forced to talk about why we chose to print letterpress, the explanation would be a bit sketchy. we like understanding the things we do. we like seeing the type press into the paper. we like the transfer of the ink to the page. we like to be able to troubleshoot on the fly. letterpress is a simple process that can get complicated if you let it. we try not to let it.
